Special Attributes of Our Home and Setting

Living near the top of Cascade Canyon has been marvelous.  Our particular home incorporates an array of wonderful attributes.  Here are what comes to mind.

We are located high up right next to open space, which affords us a striking panoramic view of the sky (over treetops) of Mt. Tam, Baldy and adjacent hills.  This view is to be enjoyed from the living room with its deck, the kitchen and the big upper deck.  It is an extra to be able to see the view while working in the kitchen.  After a workday, on weekends and after time away we have always been so pleased to come home to our peaceful sanctuary.  Birds chirp in the morning.  The house in enveloped in greenery though bright and sunny.  The living room has a spacious feeling with its cathedral ceiling.  Downstairs where the bedrooms are it is cooler for sleeping well.  The dining room is surrounded by a profusion of leafy branches of privets, bays, acacia and oaks.  The house with its two lots is separated from the house to the left by a grove of redwoods, and from the other houses by a variety of other trees.  There is privacy without full isolation.  Our neighbors are considerate, most friendly and cooperatively helpful in little and big ways.  They have all been around for many years.  There is absolute quiet here.  Only moonlight and starlight at night.  It is only 200 yards to fire roads and trails into Marin Open Space wilderness.  You can walk a gorgeous uphill to Pam’s Blue Ridge and have an amazing 360-degree view from Mt. Diablo and the East Bay to pristine forest and meadowland to the west.  The attractive road up from Cascade to the house was repaved just a few years ago.  It is wide enough for two cars to pass each other without either one needing to move to a side space.

Why are we moving?

Though we have loved our years here we are also looking forward to moving towards a simpler life.  Though Art is in his 80th year, active and still working three days a week, we want to beat fate to the punch and downsize now so that he can retire if he wants to with ease.  We’re considering renting as part of this new stage in our lives.  We are ready for some good people to come and take care of our sweet home of some 20 years.  We hope that whoever it is will have as much fun as we have had.
